The products displayed on this page are manufactured
by the adolescent girls who are part of the Adolescent
Empowerment Project (AEP) of Sabalamby. The adolescents
have the choice to get training in one of the following
sections: Bamboo&Jute, Tailoring, Batick, Embroidery
or Food Processing. This training is combined with
education and awareness building to ensure their empowerment
in this especially vulnerable age between 12 and 18.
The handicraft products get sold in the Sabalamby
shop or go to foreign buyers.
The first items were already sold in 1990. In the
following time period many new designs and products
were developed and Sabalamby is always very flexible
to experiment with new things.
