MISSION STATEMENT

SUS is a local NGO that works with underprivileged and marginalized women, children, adolescents and disabled through a holistic approach, with a prime focus on livelihood development of families. There are five basic needs of the people that have been included in the constitution of Bangladesh as a part of the people's basic rights.: food, clothes, shelter, education and medicine. SUS's main programs are around the five basic needs of people. The other socio-cultural programs are complementing the main programs.


SUS firmly believes that emphasizing an inclusive gender approach, community participation and working in collaboration with the government and other relevant organizations enhances the quality of women's lives.


SUS will continue to distinguish itself as a development organization oriented to holism by maintaining professionalism through competent staff to meet the organizational and community needs. The organization is striving to make itself institutionally, program wise and financially sustainable without compromising with quality.


People are at the center of concerns for sustainable development. According to SUS, the rights based approach is concerned not just with civil and political rights, but also with social, economic and cultural rights. The key elements that govern the rights based approach of SUS are:


• Participatory approach

• Promoting inclusive social and economic development

• Mutual accountability in respect of rights and responsibilities, and

• A holistic perspective focusing on understanding root causes, removing constraints and creating opportunities and choices for livelihood development.
